 What Is The Difference Between Monk & Saint?

A friend ask me a question - What is the difference between Monk & Saint? Generally people assume the definition of Monk & Saint is same. like that who leave all the world luxiours life and gave the knowledge to peoples, and live servive her life for common peoples.

In Hindi Language Saint Word found in two meanings - 1st General and Comprehensive Sense 2nd Rigid and Narrow Sense.

1st General and Comprehensive Sense : - In general sense saint implies: - Holy benevolent virtuous.

2nd Rigid and Narrow Sense : - 

In the Hindi word Sagar, the meaning of the saint is given - Sadhu, Tyagi, Mahatma, God-devout religious man. In the 'Standard Hindi Kosh', the word saint is interpreted to mean 'Sanskrit saint' —1. Sage, monk, virakta or tyagipurusha, gentleman, mahatma 2.Prem religious and sane person. In the dictionary of 'Apte', there are ten meanings of the word saint, the main ones are - virtuous, intelligent, scholar, saint, holy spirit etc.
